Devoted to screening short films from Edinburgh, the rest of Scotland and around the world, the Edinburgh Short Film Festival evolved in 2011 from the Leith Short Film Festival. Each year it presents incredibly diverse programmes – from the first film made in Somalia in 20 years, to Oscar-nominated shorts from Australia, the USA and Ireland, and short films smuggled out of China and Iran – as well as the hosting of celebrated film-makers from China, Russia, Italy, Spain, Germany, Holland and all over the UK.
