Explore the visually provocative and captivating work that will be presented at manipulate Visual Theatre Festival 2018, in a trailer created by the talented artist Stewart Armstrong.
Below is our BSL trailer for the festival
“Creeping ever closer through the damp darkness of Edinburgh in January, the 11th manipulate Visual Theatre Festival arrives at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh from Saturday 27 Jan, bringing with it the most intense, bizarre and gloriously off-beat visual theatre, puppetry and animated films.
Produced by Puppet Animation Scotland, we champion visual theatre, puppetry and animated film in Scotland and support artists and organisations who engage with these art forms. The festival enables audiences and Scottish-based artists to see and engage with world-class visual theatre and animation.
This year’s festival opens with an Animated Film Day, with showings from world renowned animators including subtitled Spanish films from the incredible Alberto Vazquez as well as a collection of short films from the influential Spanish festival, Punto Y Raya.
We are especially excited to welcome to the manipulate festival our first ever BSL interpreted event ‘Clown Cabaret Special Edition’ – which will feature a variety of performers from across Scotland getting silly, unleashing their wonderful and weird dreams onto the Traverse Theatre Stage. Once again, the festival will welcome back Glasgow based artist Ramesh Meyyappan to present some award winning work exploring mental well-being and identity in ‘Off-Kilter’, a show that has been made by a D/deaf performer incorporating illusions and masterful non-verbal storytelling, with D/deaf audiences specifically in mind.
