An introduction to the world of string puppets. Alice Therese Gottschalk and Frank Soehnle will teach how to work with gravity, exploring the possibilities of a simple pendulum in order to feel and understand the basic concepts and techniques of marionettes. Participants will also learn about the symbiotic relationship between form, material, and the mechanical.
This three day workshop will be taking place at Dance Base Edinburgh, on Tuesday the 5th, Wednesday the 6th, and Thursday the 7th – 9am to 5pm.
About our workshop leaders: In its work, Figurentheater Tübingen explores the porous borders between puppetry and other arts. With traditional forms of puppet-theatre and techniques of object-and material-theatre, as well as elements of drama, fine arts and music, the company aims to develop original, innovative theatrical forms. As part of manipulate 2019 the ensemble presents its production, Wunderkammer, on Monday 4 February at the Traverse Theatre.
