The manipulate 2016 programme kicked off with a two-day conference for emergent theatre makers. This compact conference, devised by artist, actress and RCS graduate Laura Wooff, featured ten ambitious theatre makers from across Europe. Their collective aim was to promote further cultural understanding and meaningful collaboration through conversation, debate and action.
The first day of the conference involved the artists coming together for discussion about the different challenges they face working in the cultural sector across Europe and where the similarities and differences lie. This dialogue informed a written agreed upon by all participants which you can download from this page.
The second day began with words from David Stevenson, Programme Leader MA Arts , Festival & Cultural Management, Queen Margaret University. David spoke about the relationships between artists, venues and funders alike within the context of sustainability in the arts and you can download his provocation below.
