Performers and audience

We love to make new connections and relationships with other national and international theatre festivals, organisations and advocates of puppetry, visual theatre and animation. We are delighted to announce that in 2017 we will be, thanks to support from Creative Scotland, hosting an International Delegate Programme. We have invited representatives from the following festivals and countries to join us at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh for the duration of the festival:

Festival De Casteliers, Montreal, Canada

Bristol International Festival of Puppetry, England

Tallinn TREFF Festival, Estonia

Festival mondial des Théâtres de Marionnettes, France

Fidena Figurentheatre Festival, Bochum, Germany

Nordland Figur Teatret, Norway

LUTKE International Festival, Ljubljana, Slovenia

Figura Theatre Festival, Baden, Switzerland

Teater Katapult, Denmark

Tobacco Factory Theatres, England

Aurora Nova, Germany

International Puppet Days, Turkey

Mukamas International Puppetry Festival, Finland

manipulate Visual Theatre Festival was initiated to provide Scottish audiences and Scottish based artists with access to the most ground-breaking visual theatre and animation in the world. Through attending the festival performances and masterclasses, artists have been able to develop their own creative practice, creating work of a similar quality and calibre, suitable for international touring.

With this in mind we have invited programmers from many of our partner festivals to see the work and work-in-progress of some of Scotland’s most exception visual theatre makers, including: Tortoise in a Nutshell, Al Seed, Company Of Wolves, Melanie Jordan & Caitlin Skinner, Sita Pieraccini, Ainslie HendersonRobbie ThomsonPlain Sight (Claire Willoughby), Eve Klein & Sons (Tiffany Soirat), Choral Jam, Tom Pringle, Ellie Griffiths, Lynda Radley & Nick Bone, Fergus Dunnet and Naomi O Kelly.
