Following on from the expansion of the festival in 2012, manipulate 2013 could be found in an extra four venues all across Scotland in 2013: at The Arches in Glasgow, the Lochgelly Centre in Fife, The Lemon Tree in Aberdeen, and Summerhall, Edinburgh. The festival kicked off with a cabaret curated by Buzzcut, enjoyed sell-out audiences for its animation programme, provided insights into the creative processes of four emerging Scottish animators through its Snapshots: 6.05 series, saw a standing ovation for The Paper Cinema’s Odyssey, was the starting point for the national tour of Vox Motus’ Slick, and closed with a performance about the final days of Hitler… Whatever else, manipulate 2013 certainly wouldn’t be forgotten in a hurry.
